Tips:
Application: Effects are achieved by applying the glaze using a slip trailer or a dispensing bottle onto bone-dry greenware or low-fired stoneware bisque (Cone 04 / 1060°C). To improve adhesion, lightly dampen the bisque with a sponge before application. Applying too thick a layer or over-applying may cause the glaze to flake or peel off. Apply with care.
Texture: The glaze may run down and pool inside textured areas, filling them in.
Layering: Can be layered and blended with other Melt Gloop colors. When creating layers, it is recommended to apply the glaze over ridges or raised contours of the piece—this helps the glaze adhere better.
Using with Slips and Underglazes: If using Melt Gloop over stoneware slips or underglazes, it is recommended to bisque fire first (up to Cone 04) before applying this glaze.
Dimensionality: The glaze retains its dimensional, high-relief profile when applied over underglazes and slips, but turns flat if layered underneath or on top of another glaze.
Firing: It is recommended to fire the piece as soon as possible after decorating to prevent any glaze flaking or detachment issues.
Line Formation: When applied in a horizontal line, the glaze may split or separate during firing, creating vertical runs.
