Mayco SW-301 Iron Wash when fired at Cone 6 (1220 degrees): when applied at full strength, it fires to an opaque, rich rusty red color with a soft sheen. After cleaning the piece, red stains remain on the clay body. Used alone or in combination with other glazes, it is virtually non-flowing. Cone 10 reduction (1300 degrees): the color darkens; surface coverage, flow, and absorption into the clay body remain the same. At Cone 06 (±1000 degrees), the color turns brown/red. FEATURES AND USE: What sets this product apart is that even after it is washed off, it leaves a vivid red tint in the pores of the clay, making it perfect for highlighting texture. This is an exceptionally stable device that exhibits minimal movement during combustion.
